According to House, et al., there are two very distinct type of cultures masculine and feminine cultures. According to the authors, the masculine culture values assertiveness while a feminine culture values nurturance. The masculine culture prizes recognition and advancement while the feminine culture cooperation and caring. Some cultures encourage men to work outside of the home and women to stay home while other cultures encourage equality in such things. Based on House, et al.’s position on such cultural dimensions what do you think that the United States is, a masculine or feminine culture? Is Mexico a masculine or feminine culture? Would you think that Mexico’s masculine score is much higher than the United States? Please go to Geert Hofstede’s website: https://geert-hofstede.com/countries.html and compare the United States cultural dimension scores with Mexico? How does the masculinity score of Mexico compare to the U.S. masculinity score? If it is higher is it much greater or just a bit greater? If it is less is much less or just a bit less? Finally were you surprised by your finding?
