1. Should an organization feel a moral obligation to avoid lay-offs even when there are compelling economic reasons to justify them?
2. When lay-offs are necessary, how can an employer handle it in a way that respects the dignity of the dismissed employees? What considerations should organizations make for employees who are not dismissed in a mass layoff?
3. Aside from layoffs, what should be considered when contemplating the termination of an employee?
4. When exiting a person, either voluntarily or involuntarily, what is the value of performing an Exit Interview? Does the issue of value pertain to both layoffs and other types of dismissal? Explain.
